Biography

Time at Company: 4 years 6 months

Don had only been in the country a few days before securing a position with us here at Lakeside Karting.  Originating from Australia, Don worked as Track Manager at a large outdoor circuit in Brisbane, so already had much of the skills, training and experience required.  Prior to his current Role as Workshop Manager he was Circuit Supervisor for over a year, so knows the way it runs from both sides.  Don has raced Rotax Max for a number of seasons and during this time did all his own mechanicing.  He has also completed a number of project cars which he starts from scratch, including full engine and gearbox strip and rebuild, and full rewireing. Don is currently racing Fomula 6.

Biography

Time at Company: 1 year 10 months

John's previous working roles have provided him with a strong foundation in customer service and attention to detail.  Being the Akela of his local Cub pack, John has an excellent understanding of how to inspire and motivate his team as well as how to deal with our younger customers; John regularly takes control of our 2-seater Prokart, providing drivers too small, too young, or simply too scared, a few 'hot laps' of the circuit.  A massive fan of WRC, John rebuilt and modernised his Subaru Impreza RB5, completing all the work himself.  John is currently building his own Prokart and intends to race in Formula 6 once completed.

Joe - Mechanic

Joepro.jpg team-photo-big.gif

Biography

Time at Company: 4 years 6 months

Joe was our very first paying customer here at Lakeside (check the 'How it all began' folder in The Gallery!) at the tender age of 10 and was a regular driver in our Cadet Academy, winning the championship on more than one occasion.  Joe continued his racing career competing in the the National ICA Championships with regular podium finishes.  Joe now regularly races karts in America as well as single-seater cars in the Formula Palmer Audi Race Series.  If you want to know the right line round the track, come down and watch him test the karts one day - he must have done thousands of laps here and knows it better than anyone.

Greg - Senior Mechanic

Biography

Time at Company: 2 years

Greg was a regular customer here at Lakeside Karting and when an opening appeared he decided that seeing as he spent so much time here, he may as well get paid for it!  Greg studied mechanics at college and after 3 years left with a diploma.  He is a huge Supermoto fan and regularly takes part in races on his CCM, preping and repairing his bike himself.  Greg is currently undertaking his latest crazy project: putting a 1000cc Yamaha R1 motorbike engine into his Mini Cooper - this promises to be an extremely quick drive, with a power to weight ratio similar to a Formula 1 car!
